Covid-19: Nepal records 11,352 cases in highest single-day spike; Valley sees 6,343 cases

Kathmandu: Health authorities in Nepal recorded 11,352 new coronavirus cases in the highest single-day spike and four fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Coronavirus cases have been increasing in Nepal at an alarming rate, setting a new record in the intraday count. The steady increase in cases has forced authorities to enforce Covid-19 restrictions.

Registering a steady increase, the active cases have risen to 47,929 as of Wednesday afternoon while the death toll has climbed to 11,628, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Covid-19 hotspot Kathmandu Valley recorded 6,343 cases—Bhaktapur registered 578 cases, Lalitpur 1,019 and Kathmandu 4,666 cases.

Likewise, 613 people recovered in the last 24 hours.
