Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases cross 65,000-mark with 10,703 new cases reported in the last 24 hours

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population on Friday said it recorded a total of 10,703 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 65,000-mark. Nepal currently has 65,374 active cases.

A total of 8,815 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 1,888 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method.

A total of 23,092 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 18,618 samples were tested through the PCR method while 4,474 samples were through the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 46.34 percent.

This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 896,584 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 110,007 through antigen tests.

Likewise, altogether 766 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 91.4 percent.

According to the Ministry, three people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,635.
