Kathmandu: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has expelled Chairman Rishi Ram Kattel from the party.

Kattel, a longtime chairman, was expelled as he was detrimental to the party, according to the Nepal Communist Party.

Issuing a press statement, Acting Chairman Lok Narayan Subedi informed that Kattel was expelled from the general membership of the party.

Earlier, the party had sought clarification from Kattel, alleging he was detrimental to the party.

On March 7, 2021, Nepal’s Supreme Court awarded Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to Kattel after annulling the merger between CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).
