Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases drop to 52,780; 1,714 fresh cases and nine fatalities recorded in last 24 hours

Kathmandu: A total of 4,771 people have recovered in a span of 24 hours in the country, while the number of new confirmed cases reported is 1,714, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Fresh cases have declined significantly in the past few days. Nepal had reported 3,637 cases on Wednesday, 3,175 on Thursday and 2,526 on Friday. The recovery rate has improved to 93.3 percent, the Health Ministry said in a daily bulletin.

The Ministry of Health said that 1,103 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 611 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 5,225 people were tested through the PCR method while 3,288 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

According to the Ministry, nine people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,803.

A decline in new cases and improvement in daily recoveries have taken active Covid-19 cases in Nepal down significantly in the past few days. Nepal currently has 52,780 active cases.
