Dairy Development Committee hikes milk price by Rs 9 per liter

Kathmandu: The state-owned Dairy Development Committee (DDC) has hiked the milk price by Rs 9 per liter. With the price increment, a liter of milk for consumers will cost Rs 85.

A meeting of DDC’s Board of Directors held on Wednesday decided to hike the price. Earlier, a liter of milk was priced at Rs 76 per liter.

The government had decided to increase the price of milk on Monday. A meeting of the Council of Ministers had hiked the price of milk for farmers by Rs 6.52. Farmers had been demanding an immediate hike in milk price. They had also warned of launching a struggle if the price of milk was not increased at the earliest.
