Kathmandu: Nepal hammered the Philippines by 136 runs in the match under the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers ‘A’ on Saturday.

Chasing down 219 runs target set by Nepal, the Philippines managed to get 82 runs on the board losing eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Jordan Alegra of the Philippines top-scored at 27 runs as Daniel Smith made 20 runs.

Earlier, a century knock by opener Kushal Bhurtel helped Nepal post 218 runs on the board losing only three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Bhurtel (not out) scored 104 runs off 61 balls smashing 13 fours and one six. It is the first century by Bhurtel in his cricketing career. Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 83 runs.

Daniel Smith, Miggy Podosky and Gurbhupinder Chohan of the Philippines took a wicket apiece.

The Philippines won the toss and elected to field first.

Nepal had defeated Oman by 39 runs in the ongoing qualifiers underway in Oman on Friday.
