Kathmandu: In what is a serious security lapse at the Tribhuvan International Airport, a man boarded an aircraft to Qatar without a passport and ticket.

A teenager boarded the aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation to Doha on late Monday evening. Crew members disembarked the passenger after finding that he had no passport and tickets, sources confirmed.

This is the second such incident at Nepal’s only international airport in less than a month. Last month, the same teenager had boarded an aircraft in a similar fashion.

The man has been arrested and is currently under custody at Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala. Preliminary investigation suggests the man entered the airport crossing the fence south of the airport. Police said the man is mentally unfit.

Police passed the buck to Nepal Army saying that the responsibility of guarding the outer periphery of the airport lies on the army.
