House forms committee to study impeachment motion against CJ Rana

Kathmandu: The lower house of the federal parliament has formed a committee to study the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice of Supreme Court Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

Almost a month after the impeachment motion was filed, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, during a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, announced the formation of an 11-member committee.

The ruling coalition on February 11 filed an impeachment motion against CJ Rana demanding his removal from the post. CJ Rana has been accused of asking for his share in the cabinet.

According to the parliament, the committee comprises of four members from the CPN-UML, two each from Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center), and one member each from CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSPN), and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP).
