Arup Rajouria new president of ICPD

Kathmandu: Arup Rajouria has been elected the new president of the Institute for Conflict Management Peace and Development (ICPD) by its general meeting. ICPD has been advocating for peace and development since it was founded on November 25, 2002.  The new executive committee is focused on managing possible conflicts to be caused by global warming. 

ICPD has elected climate experts to its executive committee and it has nominated experts and ambassadors of various countries as advisors.

Yousef Mohammed Al-Hail, the ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Robert J Dobias, Former Director/ Senior Advisor on Climate Change at the Asian Development Bank and Purnakanta Adhikari, outgoing president of ICPD, have been nominated to the advisory board of the organization.

The new executive committee comprises Prakashmani Sharma as vice president, Bishnu Prasad Bhusal as General Secretary and Hari Ram Paudel as treasurer. Members include Ila Sharma, former election commissioner, Dr Ngamindra Dahal, chairperson of Nepal Water Foundation, Upendra Prasad Paudel, chairperson of Nabil Bank Ltd, Chhaya Sharma, former president of Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) and Chhiring Dolkar Lama, chairperson of Hotel Tibet.

According to Arup Rajouria, who is a conservationist, during his tenure, he will emphasize advocacy, research and studies on the coexistence of nature and humanity for addressing the humanitarian crisis triggered by climate change.
