President Bhandari, PM Deuba extend New Year greetings

Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 BS.

In her message on the occasion today, President Bhandari has wished for peace, prosperity, good health and progress for all the Nepalis. Bhandari spoke of the need to learn from the tough experiences of the past and move ahead accordingly.

The President also called for promoting entrepreneurship and production of domestic products to decrease the yearly soaring trade imbalance as well as to create a self-reliant economy through the national capital.

She was of the view that policies and programs aimed at creating jobs and opportunities to engage a staggering number of youths of Nepal aspiring for foreign employment should be implemented at the earliest.

The Head of the State also appealed to the three-tier government to be active in realizing sustainable development goals.

Stating that the upcoming Nepali year is going to be the year of an election, President Bhandari argued that it was our common responsibility to conduct the May 13 local-level election in a free, impartial and fearless environment.

“May the upcoming New Year 2079 BS inspire to create civilized, well-cultured and just society while filling all the Nepalis with zest and zeal,” the message stated.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes to all sisters and brothers for their happiness, peace, good health and progress on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079.

In a message of best wishes today, PM Deuba urged one and all to engage their efforts towards the rebuilding of the nation, prosperity and good governance with a new sense of enthusiasm.

Noting that it was the shared goal to further elevate the country’s image and enhance living standards of fellow Nepali people, he said, may the New Year strengthen our mutual goodwill, unity and fraternity among all Nepali people to realize the national goals.

VP Pun confident of New Year inspiring unity

Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has expressed his confidence that the Nepali New Year 2079 BS would inspire all Nepalis to forge unity to build a prosperous Nepal.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 BS today, VP Pun expressed his confidence that the New Year would also motivate all the Nepalis to compliance of the constitution, maintaining political stability and concluding the remaining works of the peace process.

Stating that year 2079 BS was welcomed as the ‘Election Year’, Pun also appealed to all the Nepalis to actively participate in the upcoming May 13’s local level election.

Extending his best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad for their happiness, peace, progress and good health, the VP called for building a prosperous and developed Nepal.

Speaker Sapkota offers greetings

Speaker of House of the Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota has extended best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 BS.

In his message, Speaker Sapkota expressed his confidence that the New Year would inspire all Nepalis to optimally practice democracy and embrace constitutional values and principles.

Stating that the year 2078 BS passed through various topsy-turvy moments and taught us several lessons, Sapkota viewed that it also made us hopeful for the future.

Terming the New Year to be an ‘Election Year’, the Speaker argued that the upcoming May 13’s local election and other provincial and federal elections would allow citizens to exercise their franchise and put the leadership of political parties through the test.

He was hopeful that there would be coordination and collaboration among the political parties to bring about positive changes in the living standards of the citizens and to take forward the country towards positive changes.
