Road accidents claim five lives on Thursday

Kathmandu: As many as five people died in several road accidents across the country on Thursday, according to Nepal police.

In Siraha district, an Indian number plate tempo BR 07 PC 2783 lost its control and met with an accident at Lahan Municipality-13. An Indian national named Sambhu Paswan, 29, who was critically injured in the accident, died while being taken to a hospital in Biratnagar.

Likewise in Dhanusha district, 17-year-old Arjun Thakur, a resident of Ganeshman Charnath Municipality-4, died in a motorcycle accident. Thakur, who was critically injured in the accident, breathed his last in the course of treatment at Provincial Hospital in Janakpur. The registration number of the motorcycle was Ja 2 Pa 5862, according to police.

Similarly, a bus with registration number Ko 1 Gha 53 hit a motorcycle with registration number Ja 5 Pa 1382 at Bateshowr Municipality-2 in Dhanusha district. The motorcycle rider 17-year-old Bibek Kumar Mahato, a resident of Chitrapur-1 Municipality, died on the spot. The bus driver has been taken into police custody.

Likewise, 22-year-old Pankaj Yadav died in an accident at Ratuwamai Municipality-4 in Morang district. Yadav, a local of Ratuwamai, succumbed to the injuries in the course of treatment at the Biratnagar-based Golden Hospital. The motorcycle’s registration number was Pra 1-04-001 Pa 7631. The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Another accident occurred at Chandrapur Municipality-7 in Rautahat district. According to police, 31-year-old Janahir Pasawan, a resident of Brindaban Municipality-1, breathed his last during treatment at Chandrapur Private Hospital. The van’s registration number was 2-03-001, and the scooter’s registration number was Pra 2-03-001 Jha Ja 197. The van driver is in police custody for further investigation into the case. 

Police are investigating all the cases, it said.
