Chitwan: As many as 360 people lost their lives in road accidents in Bagmati Province last year.
According to the Bagmati Province Traffic Police Office, road accidents in Bagmati Province, excluding the districts in the Kathmandu Valley, claimed the lives of 360 people in a year.
According to Superintendent of Police Sushil Singh Rathore, a total of 1,647 accidents were reported in 10 districts of Bagmati Province. The data doesn’t include the number of accidents in the Kathmandu Valley–Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts.
Similarly, 3,389 people were injured in the accidents, according to police. Of them, 869 were critically injured and 2,520 sustained minor injuries, according to the Office.
According to Rathore, a total of 2,407 vehicles met with accidents in Bagmati Province in the last year. The majority of road accidents, according to Rathore, were caused due to overspeeding and poor road conditions.
The Office has been conducting public awareness programs in a bid to reduce road accidents in the province, he added. RSS
