Kathmandu: A team led by Dr Priti Bhusal has set out on a mission to scale Mt Everest. The team is striving for conquering the world’s highest mountain to spread messages on contemporary issues.
The team reached Lukla on Friday, the first day of the trip.
According to Dr Bhusal, she is endeavoring to scale Mt Everest to appreciate the contribution of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, hospital administration staff, sanitation workers, ambulance drivers, and social workers who are at the forefront in the fight against Covid-19.
Her second goal in climbing Mt Everest is to convey the message that there is no alternative to mitigating the impacts of climate change.
She said that she is also climbing the mountain as a responsible mountaineer to spread the message to stop pollution in the Himalayan region.
Famous mountaineers Pemba Dorje Sherpa and Lakpa Nuru are accompanying Dr Bhusal in the mission under the management of Himalayan Shepard Eco Tourism.
Dr. Bhusal, who successfully climbed the 6,119-meter-high Lobuche mountain in Solukhumbu in April 2019, reached the base camp of Everest last year. Dr Bhusal is working as a medical officer at Grande International Hospital, Kathmandu.
