Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka has appreciated Japan for its continuous support to Nepal in the field of education, health, agriculture and economic development. “Japan has been providing self-less support to Nepal. Japan achieved economic development by sending its youths to various countries and by utilizing their skills and knowledge for national development,” said Khadka. He was addressing the 48th annual meeting of JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) and Japan Southwest Asia Exchange Year Celebration organized in the capital on Saturday. “Nepal should learn from Japan,” he added.
On the occasion, Japanese ambassador to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka recalled the Japanese support to Nepal over the years and stated that such support will continue in the days to come as well. He also said that the members of JAAN have a crucial role to play in further deepening Nepal-Japan ties.
Akimitsu Okubo, the chief of JICA Nepal, said that JICA Nepal has been implementing its programs in Nepal in coordination with the government of Nepal. He also appreciated the role of JAAN members in contributing to deepening Nepal-Japan relations.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, as a chief guest, and Japanese ambassador to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka jointly launched Milan, the annual magazine published by JAAN. The scholars contributing articles to Milan were provided letters of appreciation on behalf of JAAN.
Ram Chandra Bhusal, the chairperson of JAAN, thanked the government of Japan for providing support to Nepal in various fields for the last 120 years.
