Kathmandu: The ruling alliance has failed to reach a consensus to finalize candidates for metropolises and sub-metropolises for the upcoming local level polls slated for May 13.

The ruling alliance of five parties failed to finalize candidates despite holding meetings twice on Monday. 

“The ruling alliance could not finalize candidates for all the metropolises and sub-metropolises today. Another meeting of the coalition tomorrow [Tuesday] will finalize the candidates,” said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Nepali Congress leader, and also the Minister for Communications and Information Technology.

On Sunday, the ruling alliance of five parties agreed to select candidates for six metropolises and 11 sub-metropolises by Monday.
