Balen Shah leading by over 15,000 votes in race for Kathmandu Mayor

Kathmandu: Independent candidate Balen Shah has taken the lead with a margin of 15,435 votes for the post of Mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

As per the latest vote counting results on Saturday, Shah has received 33,624 votes. His nearest rival Keshav Sthapit of the CPN-UML has received 18,189 votes. Sirjana Singh of the Nepali Congress is third with 18,054 votes, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer.

Likewise, for the post of Deputy Mayor of the metropolis, Sunita Dangol of UML has the lead over Rameshwor Shrestha of CPN (Unified Socialist) by a margin of 17,984 votes. Dangol has so far garnered 26,575 votes while Shrestha has received 8,591 votes.
