Kathmandu: Lead actress of ‘Kabaddi 4: The final match’ Miruna Magar who accused a Buddhist monk of inappropriately touching her has courted controversy with many on social media criticizing the actress instead.

The event unfolded on Monday at Civil Mall in Kathmandu which is screening the newly-released film. The cast was at the mall to promote their movie when Magar accused 24-year-old Phurba Tamang of Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality of Mugu of touching her with ‘wrong intentions’. The actress slapped Tamang for the behavior and handed him to the police.

The incident has invited mixed reactions on social media with some supporting Magar arguing that she was right to stand up for herself while others claiming that there wasn’t enough evidence for Magar to be justified in hitting and ‘humiliating’ Tamang.

Protesters chanted slogans in front of the KL Tower in Chabahil on Tuesday morning, demanding that the screening of the film be stopped. They also tore down as well as burnt the posters of the movie.

Meanwhile, District Administration Office, Kathmandu released Tamang on a bail bond of Rs 3000.

The filmmakers and producers of the movie are said to be holding talks with different associations to ensure that the movie runs smoothly.
