Niharika breaks hunger strike after five-point deal

Kathmandu: Niharika Rajput, who was on a fast unto death hunger strike for a week, broke her hunger strike after a five-point deal with the government on Thursday.

Sonali Kumari Singh (Niharika) of Jaleswhor Municipality-9 in Mahottari district was staging a hunger strike seeking justice for her.

Niharika broke the hunger strike after receiving juice from Home Minister Bal Krishna Khanda after the agreement.

As agreed, legal steps would be taken for the DNA test of Niharika’s son and defendant Shivaram Shrestha. Likewise, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens would take initiatives for the safe settlement of Niharika and her son.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs would take steps for ensuring financial support to Niharika.

Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary Shivaram Pokharel and Under Secretary Basanta Bhattarai have signed the deal on behalf of the government while Niharika and activists have also signed.
