Panchthar landslide: Dead bodies of two out of three missing recovered

Kathmandu: Dead bodies of two out of three people missing after being swept away by a landslide in Panchthar district in eastern Nepal have been found as of Saturday morning.

Three people had gone missing after the landslide triggered by incessant rainfall swept away the house of Dal Prasad Magar, 71, in Phalelung Rural Municipality-7, Bidin of the district.

The bodies of Dal Prasad’s son Ruplal, 42, and another person whose identity is yet to be ascertained have been recovered from the landslide, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rakesh Thapa at the District Police Office, Panchthar.

Ruplal Magar, his wife Goma Magar, 38, and Alyssa Magar, 19, went missing when the landslide swept away their house. Dal Prasad Magar was rescued alive, police said. A team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force has been deployed for the rescue.
