Four sentenced to life imprisonment in Sankhuwasabha massacre

Six members of a family were killed in cold blood in Sankhuwasabha district in eastern Nepal on September 6 last year.

Kathmandu: Sankhuwasabha District Court has sentenced four persons involved in the murder of six members of a family to life imprisonment. Delivering a final verdict on the case, the court also ordered them to pay a compensation of Rs 200,000.

Khadga Bahadur Karki, Lok Bahadur Karki, Ran Bahadur Karki, and Hasta Bahadur Karki of Umling Kholagaun of Madi Municipality-1 have been sentenced to life imprisonment. A 17-year-old youth was sentenced to two-thirds of the 25-year sentence in prison as he is a minor.

55-year-old Tej Bahadur Karki, his 50-year-old wife Kamala Karki; his 88-year-old mother Parbati Karki, his 25-year-old daughter-in-law Ranjana Karki, and his two grandchildren aged 11 and three were brutally killed.
