Finance Secretary Marasini goes on leave amid controversy over tax rates manipulation

Kathmandu: Finance Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Madhu Marasini has taken leave amidst controversy over tax rate manipulation involving cronies. 

Secretary Marasini met Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi on Tuesday and got his leave approved. The leave duration is unclear.

There are been calls for the finance minister’s resignation after he was accused of involving an outsider to alter tax rates in the budget speech just before it was presented before the Parliament.

Reportedly, Finance Secretary Marasini and Revenue Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkhar did not object to the finance minister involving outsiders to alter the tax rates.
