Kathmandu: Speaker Agni Sapkota on Wednesday is scheduled to announce the date for the election of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
As per the business of the House for today made public by the Parliament Secretariat, Speaker Sapkota will be announcing the date and time for elections for the Deputy Speaker post that has been laying vacant for around three years.
The post of Deputy Speaker is vacant after then Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe resigned before the election of Agni Sapkota as a Speaker in January 2020 as the constitution requires Speaker and Deputy Speaker to be from different parties.
Likewise, the Bill to Amend Citizenship Act will also be tabled in today’s meeting.
