Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda left for New Delhi, India on a three-day visit on Friday.
According to Prachanda’s Secretariat, the former prime minister embarked on a visit at the invitation of the President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jagat Prakash Nadda.
Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport, Prachanda said the visit was not immediate but routine.
Prachanda said there was no connection between the visit of the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign Department Chief and his India visit. He said that his visit to India would be crucial for Nepal and also for the alliance.
Similarly, Prachanda claimed that his visit will focus on strengthening Nepal-India relations. He said that his visit was also to enhance the relationship between the BJP and the Maoist Center.
During his stay in India, Prachanda is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and BJP President J. P. Nadda.
