Baseball players from Bhaktapur compete in International Catchball Classic Tournament

Kathmandu: Baseball players from Bhaktapur have represented Nepal in the International Catchball Classic Tournament.

Players from Changunarayan Municipality and Bhaktapur Municipality participated in the “Catch-Ball Classic 2022” tournament organized by Japan Professional Baseball Players Association and Fukushima Baseball Project.

Players from Bhaktapur Baseball and Softball Club ‘Rising Stars’ represented the Changunarayan Municipality while players from Khwopa Kings Club represented Bhaktapur Municipality in the tournament.

Roshan Thapa, the head coach of the Nepali national baseball team, said that players from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and other countries participated in the tournament conducted online.

Two teams participated in the competition from Nepal under 16 years of age and above 16 years of age. In which the under 16 team scored only 68 points while the over 16 team managed to score 99 points.

The catchall is the origin of baseball in which nine players are divided into two halves. The team that can play the most catches in two minutes will be the winner.

Thapa said that the purpose of the tournament was to exchange culture between the baseball players of the two countries.

National level players of Nepal also participated in the competition.
