Kathmandu: The National Consumer Forum has filed a complaint at a parliamentary committee against the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation for not slashing fuel prices despite continuous fall of crude oil in the international market.

Prem Lal Maharjan, president of the Forum, submitted the complaint at the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Interest Committee, demanding the state-owned oil monopoly slash fuel prices at the earliest.

It has complained that the NOC has not slashed fuel prices even while India has reduced fuel prices for three consecutive times in the last two months.

“The price of crude oil is falling in the international market. However, NOC is reluctant in slashing prices, citing different reasons,” it has said in the complaint. “The oil monopoly implements automatic fuel pricing mechanism only when price rises.”
