‘Prachanda’ proposes Dev Gurung as Maoist Center general secretary

Kathmandu: Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed Dev Gurung as the general secretary of the party.

In the meeting of the party’s Standing Committee on Saturday, Dahal proposed the names of 21 office-bearers–which includes one chair, one senior vice chair, one vice chair, one general secretary, seven deputy general secretaries, nine secretaries, and one treasurer.

According to a source at the Party, Dev Gurung is set to become the new general secretary as the names proposed by Dahal are expected to be endorsed by the committee unanimously. 

“Naran Kaji Shrestha will be the senior vice chair, while Krishna Bahadur Mahara will be the vice chair,” the source said. 

Likewise, Dahal has proposed seven names–Barsaman Pun, Janardan Sharma, Pampha Bhusal, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Shakti Basnet, Matrika Yadav and Haribol Gajurel–for deputy general secretaries.

Similarly, the names of Dinanath Sharma, Chakramani Khanal, Devendra Paudel, Lilamani Pokharel, Ganesh Shah, Hitman Shakya, Hitraj Pandey, Dilaram Acharya and Ram Karki have been proposed for the post of secretaries. Similarly, Dahal has proposed the name of Sriram Dhakal for the post of treasurer.
