Kathmandu: United Imaging HealthCare, a global leader in advanced medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment, has partnered with Swasthya Khabar Magazine, a sister publication of Nepal Live Today, to sponsor the 10th edition of Health Awards.

The 10th edition of the annual Swasthya Khabar Health Awards is being organized at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu on September 2. This year, the organizer, Swasthya Khabar, is honoring health professionals and institutions for their tireless contribution during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This edition’s theme of the awards is “Covid Champions”.

“We are proud to partner with Swasthya Khabar to award health professionals and institutions that have contributed to the nation during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Subodh Tripathi, director of Lumbini Health Care Pvt Ltd, which is the official distributor of United Imaging in Nepal.

Following the agreement with United Imaging, the name of this edition’s awards has become “United Imaging Health Awards”, according to Anil Nyaupane, chairperson of Swasthya Khabar Magazine.

The organizer has decided to provide awards to health professionals under nine different categories to honor health professionals/institutions and other professionals who worked tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The categories include doctors, nurses, Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), paramedics, public health professionals, health institutions, laboratory professionals, dead body management workers, and ambulance service providers.

Through the awards, we also want to recognize the service of health professionals who lost their lives while saving lives, Nyaupane said. “Doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers or any other health professionals who lost their lives in the course of providing treatment or support to Covid patients will be provided a special recognition of service.”

Each year, an independent selection panel has been formed for the nomination and finalization of the award winners. The selection panel is led and supervised by the Ministry of Health and Population while other health stakeholders are also represented in the panel.

“We are committed to bringing multiple stakeholders on board in the entire process of awards distribution,” Nyaupane informed. The committee has collected the name list of some 500 health professionals through the application, nomination, and other methods for the awards. The committee will soon finalize the names after a thorough evaluation of each candidate. The government representatives also collect information from the community level to ensure that the most deserving person/individual receives the award.

To be eligible for the award, an individual must have served in the public or community health institution making significant contributions to the betterment of health services.

The overall objective of the award is to reward and recognize contributions and achievements by health professionals with a proven impact on health gains in countries. The winners will be felicitated in a special ceremony to be held on 2nd September 2022.Health Award is a flagship initiative of Swasthya Khabar Patrika, Nepal’s pioneer health specialized magazine that started its publications 14 years ago.
