Court issues arrest warrant against Sandeep Lamichhane

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court has issued an arrest warrant against Sandeep Lamichhane, captain of the Nepali national cricket team, who has been accused of raping a minor.

With this, Police, now, can nab Lamichhane to further investigate the case. However, Lamichhane is currently in St Lousia to play the Caribbean Cricket League from Jamaica Tallawahs.

On Tuesday, a 17-year-old filed a rape complaint against Lamichhane at the Gaushala Metropolitan Police Circle. In the complaint, the victim alleged that Lamicchane raped her multiple times in a hotel in Kathmandu on August 21, a night before the Nepali national team traveled to Kenya to play T20Is and one-day series.

According to police, the victim and Lamicchane met on a social media platform named ‘Snapchat’.

Police say it has been collecting evidence from the hotel where the victim and Lamicchane stayed on August 21.
