One dies, nine missing in floods and landslides in Darchula

Sudurpaschim: One died and nine others were missing in monsoon-related incidents in Darchula on Friday night, said the police. Similarly, seven were injured.

A person was swept away by the flooded Lasku river due to incessant rain since Friday night at Mahakali Municipality-4. The body of the person was recovered from the river bank, said assistant Chief District Officer Hemanti Saud.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Seven people were missing in the incident, said the police. At least 11 houses along the river banks have also been swept away. Similarly, two have gone missing after being buried by a landslide at Naugad Rural Municipality.

Three of the seven others injured are said to be in serious condition, said Saud, adding that loss details are yet to come by. Teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been mobilised in the incident sites, he said.
