Kathmandu: US Acting Assistant Secretary for Global Public Affairs Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau arrived on a two-day Nepal visit on Wednesday.
In Nepal, Acting Assistant Secretary Trudeau will meet with minority group activists, media contacts, and Embassy exchange program alumni for roundtable discussions on disinformation and the media’s role in a democracy, according to the statement by the US Department of State.
She will also tour Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) sites in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, outgoing US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry welcomed Acting Assistant Secretary Trudeau.
“Welcome to Nepal, Acting Assistant Secretary for Global Public Affairs Elizabeth Trudeau! Here on a two-day tour, she’ll get to see some of Nepal’s beautiful sites,” Berry tweeted.
After Nepal, she will be traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Her 12-day trip will prioritize working with U.S. diplomatic missions on policy and messaging priorities, including countering disinformation from Russia and the People’s Republic of China, ongoing U.S. support for the people of Afghanistan, social equity, media freedom, and climate, states the statement.
