Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Sandeep Lamichhane, former captain of the Nepali National Cricket Team, in custody for four days for investigation into the charges against him.

Lamichhane, who is already suspended by the Cricket Association of Nepal, is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl.

Although Lamichhane was arrested on October 6 from Tribhuvan International Airport after arriving in Nepal, he was not presented before the court as the courts in Nepal were closed due to the Dashain festival.

In the complaint, the victim alleged that Lamicchane raped her multiple times in a hotel in Kathmandu on August 21, a night before the Nepali national team traveled to Kenya to play T20Is and one-day series.
