Kathmandu: The Supreme Court on Monday gave continuity on its interlocutory interim order against the decision of the Election Commission to scrap the candidacy of Dr Toshima Karki, a candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party in Lalitpur-3.

A joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Til Prasad Shrestha stayed the order of the poll body.

Earlier on November 1, the apex court had issued an interim order not to implement its decision to annul the candidacy of Dr Toshima Karki, who is a member of the Nepal Medical Council.

A week later, the Election Commission again asked the apex court to vacate its interim order against its decision on Dr Toshima Karki.

Of late, the Election Commission has been facing criticism for being biased toward independent candidates.
