Priest Vaishnav arrested for forging deputy chief district officer’s signature

Jaleshwor: The Mahottari District Police Office on Sunday arrested the priest of Matihani Guthi in Mahottari district, Jagannath Das Vaishnav on a fraud charge. 

Vaishnav has been accused of withdrawing Rs seven million from Mega Bank by forging the signature of deputy chief district officer of the district. 

Vaishnav reportedly withdrew the amount from his account freezed by the government at the bank branch in Rupandehi, said Superintendent of Police Krishna Pangeni.

Vaishnav, who was held from the Laxmi Narayan monastery, was sent to Rupandehi for further investigations, he said.
