Sher Bahadur Deuba, Gagan Thapa file nomination for parliamentary party leader

The newly-elected lawmakers from the Nepali Congress in the recently held polls for the House of Representatives are eligible to vote in the election.

Kathmandu: Sher Bahadur Deuba, president of Nepali Congress, and Gagan Thapa, general secretary of the party, on Tuesday filed their nomination for the election for the leader of the parliamentary party.

Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader of the party, proposed Deuba for the post, while Purna Bahadur Khadka seconded the proposal.

Similarly, Thapa’s nomination was proposed by Shekhar Koirala and seconded by party vice president Dhanraj Gurung, general secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma and leader Pradeep Poudel.

The election for the parliamentary party will be held on Wednesday.
