Police forms five-member committee to probe into Balaju incident

Kathmandu: Nepal Police has formed a committee led by deputy inspector general to probe into the Balaju riot that happened on Sunday.

The committee is led by Deputy Inspector General Masaud Alam Kha, according to DIG Posh Raj Pokharel, spokesperson for Nepal Police. “The committee will submit a detailed report at the earliest.”

A demonstration by public transport operators turned violent on Sunday. The protesters torched police vehicles and looted a mall in Balaju. 

Police have already arrested six persons on the charge of torching police vehicles, and four on the charge of looting a mobile shop in Lhotse Mall.
