Kathmandu: Contractor Manoj Bhetwal has been arrested from Kathmandu by a team of police from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range on the charge of banking offence.

Senior Superintendent Dan Bahadur Karki, the chief of Kathmandu Police, said that Bhetwal was arrested following complaints of cheque bounce from various groups.

Earlier in 2020, Bhetwal surrendered to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, after being wanted by Nepal Police. A case had been filed against him on the charge of banking offense by a victim, and the Patan High Court had issued an arrest warrant.

Following the court’s order, Bhetwal fled to India.

In 2018 too, Bhetwal was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on the charge of misusing loan received from erstwhile Apex Development Bank. He was accused of obtaining loan from the bank by producing forged documents.

In 2016, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had awarded the contract of the Kathmandu View Tower to Bhetwal’s firm, Jaleshwar Swachchhanda Bikoi Builders Pvt Ltd.
