Kathmandu: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is preparing to send rape-accused cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the ICC Men’s World Cup League Division 2 on Wednesday.

The move from the cricketing body comes after the Supreme Court on Monday allowed Lamichhane to travel abroad.

A division bench of justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal made the decision in favor of Lamichhane, allowing him to travel to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the ICC Men’s World Cup League Division 2.

Earlier, the Patan High Court had barred him from traveling abroad. On September 6 last year, a minor filed a complaint against Lamichhane at the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala, Kathmandu.
