Nepal thrashes United Arab Emirates by 177 runs

Kathmandu: An impressive bowling effort helped Nepal win against the United Arab Emirates by 177 runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League Division 2 match played at Kirtipur on Sunday. With the win, Nepal has retained the One-Day International (ODI) status.

Defending a total of 248 runs, Lalit Ranbansi took wickets five wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets to restrict the visitors to 71 runs. Likewise, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Airee, and Gulsan Jha took a wicket each.

Winning the toss and batting first, Nepal had a shaky start losing three wickets inside seven overs. Nepal lost the fourth wicket in the 22nd over as Bhim Sharki got out making 29 runs.

For Nepal, skipper Rohit Paudel and Aarif Sheikh controlled the innings as they contributed 77 and 43 runs, respectively.
