Jeep accident in Baitadi leaves six dead

Baitadi: A tragic road accident in Patan Municipality-8, Jholekmod on the Khodape-Bajhang road section along the Jayaprithvi Highway has claimed the lives of six people of the same village. The accident involved a jeep (Se 1 Ja 764) en route to Bagthala of Bajhang from Jhulaghat that fell 500 meters off the road, killing six passengers on the spot.

The deceased, all residents of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality-5 in Bajhang, have been identified as Mane Bohora (60), Banjh Nare Bohora (42), Gorakh Bohora (35), Man Bahadur Dhami (45), Birkha Dhami (45), and Bire Dhami (40). Five other passengers of the jeep narrowly escaped the accident by jumping before the vehicle fell.

Baitadi Police Spokesperson, Inspector Yogesh Khatry, said that the accident occurred at around 11:00 PM on Tuesday. The jeep driver is currently absconding, and the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

The District Police Office, Baitadi, has launched an investigation into the accident, and further details are awaited.
