Kathmandu: Nepal comfortably chased down a total of 236 runs against Malaysia in the opening game of the ACC Premier Cup at TU International Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday, thanks to half-centuries from Kushal Malla and Bhim Sharki.

Malaysia won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 235 runs in 50 overs with skipper Ahmad Faiz scoring 76 runs off 95 balls. In response, Nepal lost its first wicket in the first over but Kushal Bhurtel and captain Rohit Paudel steadied the innings with scores of 38 and 42 respectively.

It was the partnership of Kushal Malla and Bhim Sharki that ultimately led Nepal to victory, with Malla scoring 70 runs off 40 balls and Sharki contributing 53 runs off 64 balls. The partnership of 112 runs between the two helped Nepal chase the total in just 36.2 overs.

In its second game, Nepal will face Oman at TU Stadium on Friday.
