Kathmandu: The ongoing by-election in Chitwan-2 has experienced disruptions, with voting being halted in two polling stations.

The Election Commission has said that the Naya Kiran Kamal Kusum Secondary School in Bharatpur-11 and Krishnapur Secondary School in Bharatpur-7 have temporarily suspended voting due to clashes between supporters of two opposing political parties.

To restore order, the police have resorted to baton charging the protesters. A team from the Nepal Army has been deployed to the affected polling stations to maintain a peaceful environment and ensure the safety of voters and poll workers.

The Election Commission is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to resume voting as soon as possible, it said.
