Kathmandu: The voting in the ongoing by-election in two polling stations in Chitwan-2 has resumed following an all-party meeting.

The voting was temporarily suspended in Naya Kiran Kamal Kusum Secondary School in Bharatpur-11 and Krishnapur Secondary School in Bharatpur-7 after cadres of political parties clashed in front of the stations. The voting was disrupted in these two stations for three and a half hours.

To restore order, the police have resorted to baton charging the protesters.

A team from the Nepal Army has been deployed to the affected polling stations to maintain a peaceful environment and ensure the safety of voters and poll workers.

The Election Commission is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to resume voting as soon as possible, it said.
