Kathmandu: Police have arrested Sandip Raymajhi, son of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, secretary of CPN-UML, in connection with the scam defrauding millions of rupees from Nepalis by promising to send them to the United States as Bhutanese refugees.

A team of police arrested Sandip from Butwal a few hours after the Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against him.

Earlier today, the Kathmandu District Court issued arrest warrants for Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Secretary of the CPN-UML party, his son Sandeep Rayamajhi, and Prateek Thapa, son of CPN-UML Vice Chair and former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.

The police investigation has found that the racket with high-ranking political connections has defrauded at least 856 Nepalis promising them to send them to the US.
