Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court on Monday remanded suspended secretary of CPN-UML Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, an accused in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, in custody for three days.

Rayamajhi was arrested by police on Sunday. The Court on May 3 issued an arrest warrant against Rayamajhi. He, however, had been on the run.

Police have already arrested 13 persons, including high-ranking bureaucrats and politicians, in connection with the scam. They have been accused of collecting a huge sum of money from people and producing fake documents to send them to the United States as Bhutanese refugees.
