Khalanga: Three individuals, who sustained injuries from a lightning strike while collecting the precious alpine herb yarsagumba in Darchula, have been successfully rescued today after four days.

They were airlifted to Nepalgunj Medical College via a Nepal Army helicopter at 9:00 am for urgent medical treatment, according to Kiran Joshi, the Chief District Officer.

Earlier, the attempted rescue operation by an NA chopper from Surkhet on Monday had to be aborted due to unfavorable weather conditions. The three yarsagumba pickers—Mahesh Badal, 18, from Duhu Rural Municipality-2; Aan Singh Mahara, 37, from Duhu Rural Municipality-1; and his wife, Manmati Mahara, 30—were struck by lightning in Vyas Rural Municipality on Saturday.
