National Identity Card mandatory to open bank account, get other government documents

Kathmandu: The government has made it mandatory for citizens to have a national identity card number in order to open a bank account, obtain a driver’s license, issue land ownership certificates, and obtain a PAN (Permanent Account Number).

Presenting the policies and programs for the Fiscal Year 2023/2024 in a joint session of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, President Ram made such an announcement.

This provision would be fully implemented in the next three years, he said.
