Nepali migrant worker dies in Portugal

Lisbon: Ganeshman Sarangkoti, a 33-year-old Nepali migrant worker from Chandra Nagar in Khajura Rural Municipality-1 of Banke, has passed away in Portugal. 

He had been working there for eight months when he was found dead in his sleep last Friday. 

Rabin Adhikari, the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Portugal, said that Sarangkoti had returned home from work on Thursday night and was discovered deceased the following morning. 

The incident occurred in Portimao city, where he was employed at a hotel. Sarangkoti had been away from Nepal for the past eight years, having previously worked in Dubai and Malta.

Currently, Sarangkoti’s body is being kept in the mortuary at a hospital in Portimao. The NRNA Portugal Chair, Adhikari, said that necessary arrangements are being made to repatriate his body to Nepal. 

A fundraising campaign has also been initiated to gather funds for the transportation of his remains.
