New Delhi and Kathmandu make it official: Nepal PM to visit India from May31-June2

During his first foreign trip after becoming the prime minister in December, 2022, Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to hold extensive talks in New Delhi to discuss diverse areas of the bilateral partnership between India and Nepal.

Kathmandu: Ministry of External Affairs of India has said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will be visiting Indian from May 31 to June 3. “Prime Minister of Nepal will be on an official visit to India from 31 May 2023 to 03 June 2023 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This will be the first bilateral visit abroad by the Prime Minister of Nepal after assuming office in December 2022,” said the press statement issued by the MEA on Saturday. “He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation.”

According to MEA, Prachanda will call on President and Vice-President and will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Modi to discuss the diverse areas of the bilateral partnership between India and Nepal. “Other Indian dignitaries will call on the Prime Minister of Nepal.” Besides, he will also be visiting Ujjain and Indore. “The visit continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Nepal in furtherance of our ‘Neighborhood First’ policy. The bilateral relations between the two countries have significantly strengthened in the last few years in all areas of cooperation. This visit underscores the importance given by both sides in adding further momentum to the bilateral partnership,” the MEA said in its statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu also issued a press statement on Saturday saying that ‘Prachanda’ is leaving for an official visit to India on 31 May 2023 at the cordial invitation of the Prime Minister of India. “The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his daughter Ms. Ganga Dahal,” the MoFA statement said, adding that the PM’s delegation will comprise Ministers, Secretaries, and senior officials of the Government of Nepal.

“Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks with His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, at Hyderabad House, on 1 June 2023. The talks will be followed by a joint press meet by the two Prime Ministers. The Prime Minister of India will host a luncheon in honour of the Prime Minister of Nepal and his delegation,” the statement by Nepal’s foreign ministry mentions.

Prime Minister will address Nepal-India Business Summit in New Delhi jointly organized by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and interact with business leaders of both countries.

He will return to Kathmandu on June 3, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
