Kathmandu: A no-confidence motion has been filed against Lumbini Province Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel for the second time in a month.

A total of 40 lawmakers have signed the motion registered at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Sunday, said Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Birendra Kumar Kanudiya.

Kul Prasad KC of CPN (Maoist Center) has been proposed as a new Chief Minister.

Opposition parties had earlier filed a no-confidence motion against Pokharel on April 19. However, Pokharel had resigned on May 2 to evade the motion. He was later reappointed to the office claiming to have a majority.

The opposition lawmakers had protested to halt the swearing-in. But Pokharel had called the Province Head to his office under tight security and had taken an oath of the chief minister.
