Snowfall blankets highlands across Nepal (photo feature)

Kathmandu: Snowfall has occurred in many places in the mountainous and high hilly region of the country, affecting normal life.

Heavy snowfall in Phungling of Taplejung district has led to a sharp drop in mercury. Heavy snowfall has occurred at Ghunsa and other areas in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality which is situated at an altitude above 3,400 meters.

Similarly, most of the parts of Humla district in Karnali Province have received heavy snowfall, affecting the life of the people, including in Simikot, the district headquarters. The district headquarters is blanketed by snow as it started snowing continuously since Wednesday morning. Around two feet thick snow has accumulated, plunging the mercury to minus 12 degrees Celsius.

Chandragiri, Phulchowki, Shivpuri, and other hills in Kathmandu Valley have seen the first snowfall of the season today. Here are some pictures:
